Dr Maya Portolan is a highly experienced GP and Dermatological Surgeon with a distinguished academic and clinical background. She currently serves as a GP Partner at a leading NHS practice in West London and provides expert dermatological and minor surgical services at Pitshanger Clinic.

Originally from the former Yugoslavia, Dr Portolan relocated to Denmark as a refugee, where she achieved her International Baccalaureate Diploma. During her studies, she completed an integrated Physiology degree in Neuroscience, followed by clinical medicine training at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Dr Portolan also trained at the world-renowned Harefield Hospital, joining the Cardiothoracic Surgical team, before completing a six-month post in Intensive Care at Hammersmith Hospital. In 2006, she was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS).

Seeking a broader clinical role and a more family-oriented balance, she transitioned into General Practice, becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2014 and completing a Diploma in Child Health (DCH). Alongside her GP work, she developed a special interest in Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery, holding the position of Honorary Consultant Dermatological Surgeon at Ealing Hospital in 2014.
